A Working Pavilion With No Block Of Its Own
The San Francisco Fall Show 2026 runs an Opening Night Gala on Wednesday, October 14, and show days from Thursday, October 15 to Sunday, October 18. The venue is the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, 2 Marina Blvd, San Francisco.
The pavilion is a working exhibition hall. Fort Mason's venue page gives 50,000 square feet, a maximum capacity of 3,840, a theatre configuration for 2,000 and a banquet layout for 1,000. The same page publishes space for 180 standard 10 by 10 booths, direct vehicle access for simple load-in, a production office and storage rooms, a VIP mezzanine, catering and concessions areas, and high-speed wireless internet.
The fair publishes no lodging terms on its own site. Its Visit page sends visitors to Fort Mason's website for public transport, directions and parking. Every room term below is contracted by the dealer.
Who Is On The Floor
The show was founded in 1982 and describes itself as the leading international art, antiques and design fair on the West Coast, with over 40 of the top dealers from around the world. It is a non-profit. The 2026 exhibitor page lists 46 exhibitors, and the Opening Night Gala carries the theme Métallique Chic.
Each dealer arrives with staff and with freight. A 10 by 10 booth carries paintings, furniture, ceramics, jewellery and works on paper, and much of it travels with an art handler or a shipper. Show hours run from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The gala sits the night before the floor opens. A dealer and a crew need three rooms across the run.
Vehicle Access And Parking
Load-in runs through direct vehicle access to the pavilion. The campus entrance is off Marina Blvd at Buchanan Street. Paid parking is available, with fees in effect from 7:00 a.m. to midnight daily, and overnight parking is not permitted anywhere on the campus.
Fort Mason publishes two rate tables. On a non-event day the rate runs from $5 for the first hour to $25 beyond four hours. On an event day it runs from $6 to $30. The venue states that the lot fills up occasionally and that fees may increase on certain high-attendance dates. A show with 180 booths and a 3,840-person ceiling is a high-attendance date.
The show's own FAQ adds parking terms. Valet runs during the gala and on show days, complimentary for the patron circles and $20 per car for other guests, with a shuttle from nearby lots. The FAQ states that guests must not self-park inside a valet area. Treat the campus lot as a transient channel and contract the crew's vehicles as a line item.
Transit And The Crew
Fort Mason Center is served by MUNI routes 28, 30, 30X, 43 and 49, and Golden Gate Transit stops at Lombard and Fillmore. Taxis are not readily available at the campus and must be ordered by telephone. Uber and Lyft pick up inside Fort Mason Center, which is the published fallback for a crew with an early call.
The Gala Night Sits On The Set-Up Night
The Opening Night Gala lands on Wednesday, October 14, the night before the floor opens. It is a separate ticketed evening in the same pavilion, themed Métallique Chic for 2026, and it draws its own room demand. A dealer crew installing its booth that day competes with the gala guest list for the same rooms.
Fort Mason's venue page notes that the pavilion combines with adjacent venues for multi-track conferences. A dealer group that wants a hospitality room for a client evening should ask the venue, because the fair publishes no such room.
Consignment Security Is A Contracting Point
The visitor rules carry the security posture. Bags larger than 16 by 8 by 16 inches must be checked, one small bag per person is allowed, and every bag is inspected on arrival. Every bag and large coat is inspected again before exit, and a show document must be shown to security for any purchased piece, obtained from the dealer with the receipt.
Those rules protect an inventory that sits overnight on the bay. Ask what security covers the floor between the close of business and the next morning, and what insurance certificate a dealer must file. Neither figure is published.
The Commercial Deadlines The Show Publishes
The show publishes its advertising deadlines. Catalogue advertising carried a contract and payment deadline of June 30, 2026 and a creative deadline of the same date, and advertisers receive two complimentary general admission tickets.
Show day and lecture tickets run through Eventbrite. A lecture needs both a lecture ticket and a general admission ticket.
What To Contract When The Fair Holds Nothing
Five terms go to the property in writing. Ask the nightly rate and the block cut-off for a dealer run from October 13 to October 19. Ask the deposit and its due date, the attrition terms, the rooming list deadline and the name change fee. Ask for a Sunday late checkout so the crew can strike the booth and load out before the drive home.
Then put two questions to Fort Mason directly. Ask whether the pavilion can be held for a dealer's own move-in window before October 15, and ask what the load-in schedule looks like when 180 booths and their shippers share one dock. The fair holds nothing, so the dealer carries every one of these terms.
