One Saturday, one room night
The 42nd Annual Circle City Classic runs Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Lucas Oil Stadium, 500 S. Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis. The south parking lot opens at 8:00am. The ticket office and the gates open at 9:00am. The day runs from the 10:00am kick-off to 10:00pm.
The venue page carries the schedule, the bag policy and the parking notes. It publishes no group housing. A group booking for this event is a one-night hold on the Saturday.
What the published schedule puts on the floor
Girls flag football opens the day at 10:00am with Crispus Attucks against Arsenal Tech. A second matchup puts Lawrence North against Ben Davis at 11:30am. The Black Business Training Institute networking forum runs in the Blue Room from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Education Day and the college fair run in the Upper East Club Lounge from 11:00am to 2:30pm.
The field carries two high school showcase games after that. Warren Central plays Pike at 2:00pm and Lawrence North plays Ben Davis at 7:00pm. The HBCU Battle of the Bands runs 5:00pm to 6:00pm with Talladega College, Kentucky State University and Miles College. The tailgate and fan festival runs on South Street from noon to 10:00pm. The day party runs in the Upper West Club from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
Three operating rules apply to the day. Lucas Oil Stadium is a cashless venue. A clear bag policy is in effect. The south parking lot opens two hours before kick-off.
Three blocks inside one night
Bands and performance groups travel as a unit and take rooms in blocks. Teams and their travelling parties take the same. Staff, officials and vendors need rooms near the building for a day that starts at 8:00am. A programme that ends at 10:00pm leaves a long drive home for anyone outside the metro.
The organiser carries three further programmes on its own pages. The Classic Parade steps off at 10:00am on the Saturday and draws nearly 100,000 spectators. Talent Day runs on Friday, September 25 and puts student athletes, graduates and employers in one building. The organisation also sells youth ticket blocks for Education Day. Ask the organiser how many rooms each of the three needs in 2026 before sizing a count.
The venue's lodging link opens a city portal
The Hotels and Lodging link on the venue page opens the Visit Indy reservations portal at reservations.visitindy.com. That portal lists Indianapolis properties by distance from the stadium and publishes no event-specific block. A planner who follows the link compares general availability at market rates.
Downtown Indianapolis carries 7,100 hotel rooms, and 4,700 of them connect to the convention centre by skywalk. The groupRooms directory lists 275 Indianapolis properties for rate comparison.
Two clauses to settle first
Minimum stay comes first. A hotel may apply a two-night minimum on a stadium weekend, and a one-night hold cannot be signed until the property states its position. Ask for the minimum in writing for the Saturday night, and ask whether it changes when the group also holds Friday, September 25.
The cut-off date comes second. A one-night block has one deadline. Rooms that stay unsold at that date return to general sale if the clause is written that way.

Fit the attrition to one night
Attrition on a one-night hold covers a small number of room nights, so the percentage carries more weight per room than it does on a four-night convention stay. Ask the hotel to state the attrition against room nights rather than as a percentage alone, and to state the damages in dollars.
Four further questions belong in the same request. Is the rate commissionable? Is parking included for the band and team coaches? Can the group hold a hospitality room during the 5:00pm band performance? Can the Friday night be added for setup staff without repricing the Saturday?
Fix the room count before the cut-off date and the block is settled.
